Mr. Tolia is a Senior Consultant and the lead clinician in Ophthalmology at Luton & Dunstable Hospital and has in the past been Clinical Director and Chairman of the Medical Staff Committee. He qualified and trained in ophthalmology at Glasgow University and completed his Senior Registrars training at the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham.
He has expertise in treating basal cell carcinoma of the lids and has extensive experience with laser surgery, which includes laser treatment for diabetes, glaucoma and correction treatment for short sightedness.
In the last year he has introduced infrared laser treatment for the management of macular degeneration. Patients suspected of having a macular problem with central visual distortion should be referred as a matter of urgency. A Fluoresceine angiogram reveals this type of macular degeneration and whether it is suitable for treatment.
